Episcopal High School is the only 100% boarding school of its caliber in a major American metropolitan area. Founded in 1839, its 130-acre campus lies minutes from central Washington, D.C. — and the school treats the capital as an extension of the classroom, with regular access to its institutions, internships, and speakers. Because every one of its 440 students boards, the community is unusually close-knit: teachers live on campus, and support is constant. Alumni include Senator John McCain and leaders across politics, finance, and public life.

Why Atlas recommends it

A rare combination — full boarding immersion, a top-tier academic program, and a world capital on the doorstep. Small classes (5:1 ratio) mean international students get genuine individual attention, and the D.C. location gives ambitious students unmatched exposure to politics, diplomacy, and public policy.

University outcomes

Graduates matriculate to leading U.S. universities: over the past five classes they entered 180 colleges and universities — the University of Virginia, Wake Forest, UNC Chapel Hill, and Georgetown among the most frequent destinations, with recent graduates also at Cornell, Penn, Stanford, Harvard, and Yale — supported by a well-resourced college counseling office.

Sports & activities

19 sports across 52 teams — including crew, squash, lacrosse, soccer, and basketball — with facilities and coaching at a level national schools rarely match. For student athletes, this is a direct route into U.S. university athletic recruitment.

Scholarships

For the most gifted students, Atlas negotiates individual scholarships of up to 100% of tuition — with a scholarship, a year here can cost less than a private school in your home country.
